Is it right for you?

Our honest take, based on the published specs and the real-world trade-offs.

What it is

The Razer Basilisk V3 is a wired ergonomic gaming mouse with a 26,000 DPI optical sensor, 11 programmable buttons, and Razer Chroma RGB. It is shaped for right-handed palm or claw grips, with a thumb rest and textured side grip. The standout is the HyperScroll tilt wheel, which switches between notched scrolling for precision and a free-spin mode for flying through long documents. At $34.98 it is one of the better value picks in the Basilisk line.

Specs that matter

The 26K DPI sensor is more than most people will ever use โ€” the real benefit is reliable tracking and the option to run low sensitivity on a fast sensor. The 11 programmable buttons cover gaming macros plus a tilt wheel you can remap to left and right inputs. The optical switches are rated to resist the double-click issues that plague traditional mechanical switches. It is wired, so there is no battery to manage and no wireless latency, but you are tethered to the desk. Chroma RGB syncs with other Razer gear if you own any.

Who it's for

This mouse fits FPS, MOBA, and MMO players who want lots of buttons and a comfortable right-handed shape, plus productivity users who will actually use the free-spin wheel for long documents. It is a strong pick if you do not mind a cable โ€” you avoid charging and get more features for the money. Left-handed users should look elsewhere, as this shape is right-handed only.

Trade-offs to know

It is wired, so cable drag can be noticeable without a bungee. The right-handed ergonomic shape means lefties are out of luck. At around 100 grams it is not an ultra-light esports mouse, so claw-grip flick players may prefer something lighter. The free-spin wheel is fun but can feel loose in notched mode until you get used to the toggle. Razer Synapse is powerful but wants an account for full features.
